Wake up to the crisp Himalayan air and embark on the Rani Dhunga Hike, a trail that winds through flourishing cardamom fields and the enchanting forests of Darap. This hike is a treasure trove for birdwatchers, botanists, and photography lovers, guided by certified local experts who share stories of the land. As you walk amidst the chorus of chirping birds and fluttering leaves, the trail offers a perfect balance of nature, adventure, and cultural touch.

Today, set out to explore the sacred Kechopari Lake, revered as the “Wish-Fulfilling Lake.” The lake is uniquely shaped like the footprint of Guru Padmasambhava, the patron saint of Sikkimese Buddhism. After a serene walk along its banks, take a short 15-minute hike to visit an Ani Monastery (female monks’ monastery) and a hidden cave housing a statue of Guru Padmasambhava. The hike rewards you with panoramic views from a scenic viewpoint. Before returning, stop at the famous Pizza Café run by a local youth of Kechopari—where wood-fired pizzas baked in a brick oven are served with heartwarming hospitality. Back at the homestay, the night can be spent around a bonfire and BBQ (on request), sharing stories under the stars.

An early start takes you to Yuksam, the historic first capital of Sikkim. Begin with a one-hour hike through a jungle trail rich in flora and fauna to visit Dubdi Monastery, the oldest monastery in Sikkim. Later, step into history at the Coronation Park, where the first Chogyal (king) of Sikkim was enthroned in 1642 by three revered lamas. Finally, visit the tranquil Kathok Lake, named after one of the lamas who blessed the coronation. With its spiritual aura and cultural depth, Yuksam offers a profound sense of stepping back in time. Return to Darap for the evening.
